Thai palm oil farmers won’t allow B10 and B20 freeze to go beyond four months

December 6, 2021 |

In Thailand, the Pattaya Mail newspaper reports that palm oil farmers will only permit the government to restrict biodiesel blending to 7% for four months. The government announced a temporary halt between December 1 and March 31 on B10 and B20, which will cut palm oil demand by 17,000 metric tons per month. The growers do not want to disrupt tourism and the economy through protests against the policy, so are giving the government the leeway they seek but will not allow the cut in demand to continue beyond the announced date.
