December 28, 2021 |

In Brazil, Pro Farmer reports UNICA expects ethanol production to fall during the next 2022/23 season at 27.7 billion liters, more than 8% lower than the crush ending this month. It expects more sugarcane to be diverted to ethanol in the crush starting in April at 55.13% compared to this year. With frosts and drought expected to hit cane production, UNICA expects yields to be well below the 85 metric tons per hectare average, reflected in the 13.3% lower sugarcane crop estimate of 525 million tons.
