KOKO passes 300,000 household subscribers milestone for ethanol cooking fuel

December 30, 2021 |

In Kenya, Team KOKO has celebrated the company’s latest sales milestone, with more than 300,000 household subscribers on our clean fuel and carbon platform in Kenya.

KOKO Fuel was launched to the market in late 2019 and has battled major supply-side and market disruptions since the outbreak of COVID-19. Despite this, we are on track for 450% growth in our household subscriber base during 2021 – a testament to the incredibly strong execution of our 1,000+ staff across Kenya and India.

KOKO Fuel is ultra-clean renewable bioethanol that is available from a dense Network of KOKO Fuel ATMs inside local shops a short walk from all homes.

Customers can purchase fuel in the small daily quantities that are often preferred in the informal sector, while KOKO Agents add a profitable new line of business.

In November, Mombasa (Kenya’s second largest city) saw the first Network launch outside Kenya’s capital, with very strong market traction so far.
