Karnataka exploring its own statewide ethanol mandate

In India, the New Indian Express reports that Karnataka is preparing to implement an ethanol blending policy in the state to help further support sugarcane mills in the key sugar-growing region. The state’s sugar minister announced that a research task force will be developed to support the development of the new blending policy, the level for which has not yet been established. With 88 mills in the state, there is opportunity to expand ethanol production significantly while reducing the sugar surplus.
