Veganuary is coming: Game of Thrones star endorses apple leather

January 3, 2022 |

In France, faceless man/heroine of Winterfell Maisie Williams has launched an apple leather handbag in partnership with fashion brand Coperni. Williams, best known for playing Arya Stark on the hit HBO series Game of Thrones, was heavily involved in the bag’s design, according to company Coperni CEO Arnaud Vaillant. “We did everything together,” he said in an interview. “We have done many Zooms and chose the fabrics, the pins, and the colors together … Maisie was choosing everything with us and giving ideas. She was really involved.”

Coperni traditionally uses calf leather in its designs. For its partnership with Williams, who is a sustainable-living advocate, the brand uses a vegan leather made from apple waste. The bags retail for €495-595 (US$560-674).

“Based on [Coperni’s] iconic ‘swipe bag’, our new edition is made from apple leather and comes with five little apple sticker pins for you to customize yourself,” Williams, 24, posted on Instagram.
