Ethanol stocks jump to highest since July as production eases

January 6, 2022 |

In Washington, Brownfield Ag News reports Energy Information Administration data shows ethanol stocks rose a more than 20-week high last week to 21.359 million barrels as ethanol production eased off. Ethanol production averaged 1.048 million barrels a day last week, 11,000 barrels lower than the week prior, but it was still 113,000 barrels higher than a year ago. Ethanol production eased on the back of lower margins, that although they remained above the cost of production, didn’t justify the massive production runs seen in the run up to the end of 2021.
