Valero sees 70-cent gap in SAF proposal within Build Back Better bill

January 31, 2022 |

In Texas, Reuters reports that Valero says the $1.25 to $1.75 per gallon tax incentives proposed to boost sustainable aviation fuel production under the Build Back Better bill isn’t enough to get the company to convert to SAF from renewable diesel production. The bill aims to support SAF production in order to achieve 20% lower emissions from the aviation industry by 2030. Valero says there’s still a 70 cent per gallon gap with renewable diesel so at these levels wouldn’t shift its production.
