carbonauten and University of Hohenheim secure funding for bioactivated carbon research

February 9, 2022 |

In Germany, producing bioactivated carbon from renewable raw materials and covering the energy required for this in a climate-neutral manner – this is the goal of a joint research project by carbonauten GmbH and the Department of Conversion Technologies of Renewable Raw Materials at the University of Hohenheim. After the approval of the funding by the bioeconomy innovation and investment program for rural areas (BIPL BW) of the Ministry of Food, Rural Areas and Consumer Protection Baden-Württemberg in December 2021, the two-year research project is now starting. As a result, a system module is to be created with which biocarbons obtained from organic residues can be activated by steam. The basis for this is the minus CO2 technology from carbonauten.
