Ethanol production rebounds but prices remain below cost of production

February 16, 2022 |

In Washington, Brownfield Ag reports data from the Energy Information Administration shows ethanol production swung back higher last week to 1.009 million barrels a day, 16,000 higher than the week before. As a result, stocks grew to 25.483 million barrels, up by 684,000 barrels. Although production levels have rebounded slightly, Brownfield Ag reports that the Iowa State University’s Center for Agricultural and Rural Development says slower demand and high corn prices have ethanol prices below the cost of production.
