UK construction industry asks for red diesel ban to be delayed

In the UK, Construction Enquirer reports the construction industry is panicking ahead of the nationwide ban on red diesel that comes into effect on April 1, forcing users to switch to regular diesel, biodiesel or HVO in an effort to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Red diesel has traditionally been significantly cheaper than standard diesel, costing less than half of the retail fuel. With fuel prices rising quickly to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the construction industry and others are calling for the government to postpone the ban.
