Iowa House bill seeks to stall imminent domain for carbon pipelines for a year

March 17, 2022 |

In Iowa, Iowa Public Radio reports state House Republicans have introduced a bill that would stall the use of eminent domain for securing land for proposed carbon pipelines until March 1, 2023. Landowners in the state are concerned that the companies behind the pipelines will take their land even if they don’t want to sell, resorting to eminent domain to get the projects through. The two proposed projects would run through 30 of Iowa’s 99 counties.
