March 27, 2022 |

In Brazil, President Jair Bolsonaro drove a biomethane-powered tractor at a ceremony launching the government’s incentive measures to increase the production and sustainable use of biomethane, according to AgenciaBrasil. The measures include investments under Brazil’s Special Regime of Incentives for Infrastructure Development and creating the National Program for the Reduction of Methane Emissions, also known as Metano Zero, designed to support the generation and use of biomethane derived from urban and rural waste.

The total investment expected is more than BRL 7 billion (€1.28 billion), generating at least 6,500 jobs in the construction and operation of the biomethane units. The goal is to build 25 new facilities across six states.
