In Nebraska, the Associated Press reports that a bill in the state senate seeking $1 million for the University of Nebraska to study the long-term health and environmental consequences of the AltEn ethanol plant in Mead was approved in a first-round vote of 34-4. The AltEn facility has faced environmental challenges since it first opened in 2015 and is currently being sued by the six seed companies that supplied it and had tried to help clean it up last year.
