April 4, 2022 |

In Brazil, Platts reports demand for ethanol in light of rising crude oil prices due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine has pushed ethanol prices 208 points above the price for sugar as of April 1 as the sugarcane crush officially kicks off. Hydrous ethanol prices rose nearly 8% in the Center-South region between March 10 and April 1, which combined with a nearly 7% appreciation of the Real against the Dollar during the same period led to the surge. Include the value of CBIOs and the premium rises to 240 points.
