Malaysia calls for temporary halt to 1G biofuel production following Indonesian export ban

In Indonesia, Reuters reports the government has put a ban on palm oil exports beginning April 28 in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine’s impact on global edible oil markets. In response, the Malaysian Palm Oil Board called on countries to temporarily focus on food rather than fuel production from edible oils and fats such as palm oil amidst market upheaval. Once the markets stabilize, the MPOB’s director general said that biofuel priorities could resume.
