Oil Castor importing 20 biodiesel manufacturing engines for Zimbabwe farmers

In Zimbabwe, the Zimbabwe Situation reports that in an effort to help increase farmers’ access to energy and encourage them to grow castor bean, Oil Castor is importing 20 biodiesel manufacturing engines from South Africa with a price tag of $60,000. The company buys castor bean from farmers to whom it supplies seed to later convert into fuel and other uses such as cosmetics and lubricants. Oil Castor is developing a pilot biodiesel plant in the Beatrice area of Harare.
