Environmentalists not convinced by oil refineries converting to renewable diesel

In California, KPIX reports environmentalists are skeptical of the moves made by major oil refiners in the Bay Area who are seeking to convert their facilities to renewable diesel production. Environmental groups have protested the alleged greenhouse gas and water foot reductions claimed by the refiners, saying that the soybean and corn feedstocks proposed for the facilities make the projects greenwashing, rather than green. More than a dozen environmental groups have filed an appeal against the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisor’s decision to move the project forward.
