Estonian Oil Association head prefers excise duty cuts to biofuel blending reductions

May 4, 2022 |

In Estonia, the ERR news agency reports the head of the Estonian Oil Association believes the country should not follow in the footsteps of Latvia and Finland who have cut biofuel blending in an effort to reduce pump prices but should instead cut excise duties to ease consumer pain. Estonia’s biofuel blending policy is rather complicated, so trying to temporarily reduce blending would make it even more convoluted, while also compromising climate goals, he said.
