Bolivian oil company awards construction of $387.5M  biodiesel plant to its subsidiary

May 5, 2022 |

In Bolivia, El Deber reports that despite a series of complaints and observations, Bolivian Fiscal Oilfields (YPFB)’s biodiesel project will start. On Wednesday, the president of YPFB announced the construction of this plant and said that “in the next few days” the state company will carry out groundbreaking. The investment will be $387.5 million, according to the award note seen by El Deber.

In addition, after three unsuccessful bids, YPFB decided to directly award this work to its subsidiary YPFB Refinación. The announcement was made after a series of complaints made by different media outlets, which show that the project is unfeasible because the supply of soybeans for its operation is not guaranteed.
