In Thailand, the Bangkok Post newspaper reports the national biodiesel association is asking the government to not cut biodiesel blending even further, currently at 5% with expectations of dropping lower, as production is currently only running at 30% of capacity while consumption has fallen by 40%. Blending rates have been as high as 20% in the recent past. The government has been cutting biodiesel blending in response to rising fuel prices around the globe, hoping to ease the pain at the pump, but the association says the price reduction claims are exaggerated and only a fraction of what is being portrayed in the media.
