May 12, 2022 |

In Colorado, Carbon America, the first vertically integrated carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) super developer, announced two agreements with Sterling Ethanol, LLC and Yuma Ethanol, LLC to develop CCS projects at two Colorado ethanol production facilities that will capture and store 95 percent of the carbon dioxide emissions per year from the fermentation process. Carbon America will finance, build, own and operate the CCS systems at the ethanol plants in Sterling and Yuma, Colorado, and ensure secure geologic sequestration nearly one mile underground in northeastern Colorado. The projects are the first two commercial CCS projects in the state of Colorado.
