In India, the Free Press Journal reports the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation is looking to contract a partner for a Design, Build, Own, and Operate biochar and briquette project using garden waste. The region produces around 100 metric tons of garden waste per day. The tender to find the partner has already been launched. The intention is for briquettes to be used by industry in boilers and thermal power plants but could also be used by households.
