Protech Mitra Perkasa to invest $50M in Indonesia’s first bio propylene glycol plant

In Indonesia, the Jakarta Globe newspaper reports that Protech Mitra Perkasa will invest $50 million in the country’s first bio propylene glycol plant, set to be built on Java Island. With construction set to begin next year, the facility will produce 30,000 metric tons of bio propylene glycol annually. There is no domestic production of the key product, leaving Indonesia to import the entirety of its demand and fossil-based to boot. With the country’s significant biodiesel production that creates vast amounts of glycerol, propylene glycol’s key ingredient, it has the potential to become a significant producer.
