Brazil may boost biodiesel blending to 15% temporarily

June 8, 2022 |

In Brazil, Bloomberg reports that following biodiesel blending cuts in response to high vegetable oil prices, the country is now looking to boost blending again to offset high fossil fuel prices. Neighboring Argentina is looking to do the same. Blending in Brazil is currently at 10% but could go to 15%, but it would only be for a limited time due to biodiesel still being more expensive than fossil diesel. ABIOVE says the country could currently supply a 12% blend but would need to crush another 3 million metric tons of soybeans to achieve 15%.
