New renewable diesel capacity not enough to offset loss of fossil diesel refining capacity

In Washington, Reuters reports the 12 renewable diesel facilities under construction in the US and the nine proposed, along with existing production capacity, isn’t enough to offset the loss of fossil diesel volumes lost over the past three years as refineries stopped operating. Data from the Energy Information Administration shows the new plants would bring renewable diesel production capacity to 135,000 barrels per day by 2025 but since 2019, 400,000 bpd of refining capacity has been lost.
