Agency accuses Phillips 66 of starting renewable diesel production before permit approvals

June 27, 2022 |

In California, Reuters reports the Bay Area Air Quality Management District issued a notice earlier this month accusing Phillips 66 of beginning to produce and consume renewable diesel at its Rodeo refinery before the change to its air permit was in place. The company said it already started to produce the fuel in Q1 2021, processing small volumes, but said in a statement that it disagreed with the BAAQMD’s allegations and were working with the agency to resolve the situation. Environmental groups have already hit hard on the company for not having the proper permits in place.
