Canadian Clean Fuel Standard regulations decarbonize slower by stronger by 2030

June 29, 2022 |

In Canada, the Canadian Press got ahold of a copy of the final regulations for the Clean Fuel Standard approved by Parliament last week that will delay decarbonization rules but will ask for stronger cuts by 2030. The new rules are set to be published by July 6. The delayed policy was first proposed in 2016 but has been delayed through various governments and trying to balance against the oil and gas industry. The new regulations are set to come into effect the end of the year.
