Petrobras inks deal with Vallourec to analyse potential production of bio-oil

July 3, 2022 |

In Brazil, Petronoticias reports that Petrobras and Vallourec signed an agreement to evaluate opportunities for technological cooperation involving the production and use of bio-oil made from the condensation of gases produced during the transformation of Eucalyptus wood into charcoal.

Petrobras said that the testing phase of this initiative is being carried out at Petrobras’ Research and Innovation Center (Cenpes). The oil producer noted that bio-oil has the potential to be used as a raw material in the generation of renewable products.

The agreement signed with Vallourec includes studies and tests, already in progress, to use vegetable tar, a co-product generated in Vallourec’s charcoal production process, by means of continuous carbonization equipment, Petrobras said.
