In recent years, this insect has gained great popularity globally, due to the fact that its larvae are capable of recycling various organic substrates, such as manure, food, and crop residues.

The pupae of this insect (third stage, after being a larva) can be processed and pressed to extract their fat, which can be used as biodiesel.

The rest that remains can be used as concentrated protein and low-fat pet food. In turn, chitin can be implemented for various purposes. And the biomass produced by the activity of the larvae can be used to feed various animals, such as pigs, chickens and fish.
