Maruti Suzuki aiming high for E85 engine fuel efficiency standards

In India, AutoCar India reports Maruti Suzuki expects to release its E20 compatible vehicles by April while it is still developing its E85 vehicles that so far don’t have a market introduction date set. While the E20 specifications require only a few changes to rubber hoses and the like, the E85 flex-fuel engine under development will be BS6 compliant compared to standard E85s that are only BS4 compliant. The company is working hard to ensure that despite the lower fuel density of ethanol, the new E85 engines remain fuel efficient.
