Farmers fighting against proposed imminent domain for Summit Carbon Solution’s pipeline

August 29, 2022 |

In South Dakota, AgWeb reports that dozens of farmers, including those who grow corn for ethanol production, are opposing the use of imminent domain for Summit Carbon Solution’s proposed carbon pipeline project that would transport CO2 emissions from ethanol plants across the Midwest into a single CCS project. They say that eminent domain should only be used for public utilities, which they argue this project is not, but instead is a project that may or may not work yet will line the pockets of ethanol companies and SCS while potentially causing more damage to their land than the money they’ll receive.
