In Brazil, Journal Cana reports FS, with units in Lucas do Rio Verde and Sorriso, in Mato Grosso, announced the expansion of the use of the railway to transport its cargo. The company acquired 80 wagons that will be operated by Rumo, the largest railroad operator in Brazil, in a deal worth BRL115 million. In an unprecedented business model for both companies, FS acquired the wagons to add capacity to the system and Rumo will carry out the transport.

The ethanol that leaves the units in Mato Grosso will travel by road to Rondonópolis -MT and from there to Paulínia -SP by rail, passing through the state of Mato Grosso do Sul and crossing the state of São Paulo until it reaches the country’s main consumer market, covering approximately 1,200 km, which will no longer be covered by highways.
