Egyptian ministers carry out follow-up meeting on waste-to-energy project in Giza

In Egypt, local newspaper Daily News reported that Egypt’s Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad met with Minister of Local Development Hisham Amna, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker, and Minister of State for Military Production Mohamed Salah El-Din Mostafa, to follow up on the national project to establish a municipal waste-to-energy plant in Abu Rawash, in Giza.

Fouad said that the government is permitting private investors to invest in this field and noted that a company has already submitted a technical study for this technology.

He added that this study has been studied and reviewed by the relevant ministries, and the environmental impact assessment study for the submitted project has been reviewed and approved.

Meanwhile, Amna affirmed his ministry’s keenness to coordinate with the local authorities to complete the necessary licenses for the land on which the project will be built.
