December 12, 2022 |

In Florida, The Digest announced the opening of nominations for the Bioeconomy 500, which recognizes individuals for their leadership contributions to the bioeconomy’s development and project deployment. The 500 is expected to honor scientists, engineers, policy makers, financiers, project developers, feedstock pioneers, offtakers, advocates and supply-chain and distribution partners. Every Digest subscriber can nominate an unlimited number of people, and nominations will remain open here through Tuesday January 3rd, 2023. (Need the full link? All Digest subscribers are eligible to vote in the Bioeconomy 500 poll, which will include all nominees through 1/3/23 and voting will take place from January 4th through midnight EST, Friday January 20th. One ballot per subscriber — each subscriber can vote for as many nominees as they choose. Subscribers may campaign for their preferred nominees, so long as each subscriber completes no more than one ballot. Subscriber votes will account for 50 percent of the total — votes by the invited international selectors will account for the remainder.

The Bioeconomy 500 will be announced on Tuesday, January 31st. All honorees on the 2023 Bioeconomy 500 list who attend ABLC can take part in the ceremony honoring and recognizing the Bioeconomy including the presentation of the official medals and ribbons to each honoree.

“The bioeconomy has grown leaps and bounds in the past 10 years,” said Digest editor Jim Lane, “and it is usually told as a story of technologies and Net Zero pledges — but it is individuals who actually translate opportunity into accomplishment, and the Bioeconomy will recognize those individuals who played the leading part.”
