CARB trying to slip through harbor craft transition to 99% or 100% renewable diesel

December 14, 2022 |

In California, Waterways Journal reports that a new study from Stillwater Associates says a new proposal by the California Air Resources Board would require all harbor vessels, supply boats, fishing vessels, ferries, excursion vessels, tugboats, barges and dredges to transition to 99% or 100% renewable diesel under a change to the Office of Administrative law. The change to “Section 2299.5. Low Sulfur Fuel Requirements, Emission Limits and Other Requirements for Commercial Harbor Craft” requiring the fuel transition could already come in to place by January 1 if the Office of Administrative Law approves CARB’s proposal.
