IATA, OLADE sign agreement to promote SAF in Latin America

In Panama, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the Latin American Energy Organization (OLADE) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in order to establish actions and mechanisms of joint cooperation for the exchange of knowledge and information that favor the development of regulatory frameworks and incentives in Latin America and the Caribbean that support the energy transition of the aviation sector towards the use of sustainable aviation fuels. The MoU, which enters into force immediately, includes carrying out a series of actions in countries of OLADE, focused on the development and implementation of research and dissemination programs in various areas of collaboration, with an emphasis on aviation fuels and new technologies energy sources for the aeronautical industry. “As we move from commitment to action, it is critical that the industry have the support from governments for the development of stable policies that help decarbonization of the global economy and meet aviation’s self-imposed goal of reaching net zero emissions of CO2 by 2050,” said Peter Cerdá, IATA Regional Vice President for the Americas.
