Ukraine war-induced woes seen continuing to plague European ethanol market

In the Netherlands, Platts reports that it expects the European ethanol market to continue to suffer from the same issues in 2023 as the year prior due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine: high fuel prices creating high grain prices and in turn leading to low margins as well as difficulty in securing grain supplies from the Black Sea region. Negative crushing margins during Q1 are a real threat due to seasonally low demand and high energy costs.
