North Dakota state senator files eight bills related to proposed Summit Carbon Solutions pipeline

January 19, 2023 |

In North Dakota, InForum reports that State Senator Jeff Magrum has filed no less than eight bills relating to the proposed Summit Carbon Solutions pipeline that seeks to collect CO2 emissions from ethanol plants, transport them and then sequester them deep into the ground for long-term storage. The controversial project has hit against resistance from local authorities as well as landowners regarding access to land for survey as well as other legal issues. Two of the bills Magrum has submitted have to do with the amount of voluntary easements required in order to secure a pipeline permit while the others have to do with surveyors’ access to private property and underground storage space.
