German ministries clash over future of crop-based biofuels

January 25, 2023 |

In Germany, Euractiv reports that although the environment minister said last week that her ministry would soon publish plans to eliminate the use of crop-based biofuels by 2030, in line with the stance shared with her fellow green party member, the agriculture minister, the transportation ministry is at odds with the plan. Instead, the transport ministry is taking an “all of the above” approach to fuels where it believes the market should drive the choice of resources used to ensure efficiency. The state secretary of the Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport told a biofuels conference this week that the ministry was on their side to provide the policy stability the industry needs.
