In Indonesia, the Antara news agency reports that increasing the biodiesel blending mandate to 35% on February 1 from the current 30% will require 1.315 billion liters of biodiesel this year. Although the price of biodiesel is subsidized from revenue generated by exporting palm oil and its products, which Reuters says could top $2 billion this year, the country estimates that the blending mandate will save nearly $11 billion in foreign exchange that would have otherwise been used on oil imports. Annual CO2 emissions reductions from B35 are estimated at 34.9 million metric tons.
