Japan seeking to source SAF via Singapore and the US

February 2, 2023 |

In Japan, the Asahi Shimbun newspaper reports that Japan is scaling up its efforts to secure sustainable aviation fuel with negotiations going with both Singapore and the US in an effort to secure supplies within the next two to three years before global demand outstrips supply. With ICAO wanting developed countries to ensure a 15% reduction of their aviation emissions by 2024, Japan is scrambling to source SAF while it’s still available. The agreement could be in the form of joint procurement agreements or supporting measures to companies that fly to Singapore and the US.
