SCG Chemicals teams with Braskem to develop Thai bioethelene facility

In Thailand, SCG Chemicals is teaming with Braskem to develop a 200,000 metric ton per year bioethelene manufacturing facility in the Map Ta Phut area of Rayong. The facility, which is set to be online by 2025, will produce feedstock for bio-based polyethelene plastic. Sugarcane and cassava are expected to be the feedstocks for the facility. The two companies teamed up to investigate the possibility of a joint project back in 2021 when they undertook a feasibility study.
