Calumet Montana oil refinery set to start SAF production in the coming months
In Montana, Great Falls Tribune reported that the Calumet Montana oil refinery in Great Falls has completed a multi-million dollar expansion project and is now set to start supplying SAF in the coming months. The $90 million expansion project had begun more than a year ago. “Reducing air transportation carbon emissions is one of the most challenging goals, not only for the U.S. but worldwide,” said plant manager Carlos Centurion. “In response to that challenge … we are going to begin supplying sustainable aviation fuels this spring.” “We expect to become one of the largest, if not the largest sustainable aviation fuel producer in the world, right here in Great Falls,” Centurion added. The executive said that the base ingredients for SAF production will almost certainly come from rural producers in Montana and the surrounding region.
