Federal district court temporarily freezes AltEn’s assets as seed companies seek to recoup clean-up costs

February 14, 2023 |

In Nebraska, KETV reports a federal district court has temporarily frozen AltEn’s assets following the petition for an injunction from the seed companies that have so far spent $28 million to clean up the environmental pollution caused by the biofuel company using treated seed corn as ethanol feedstock. The companies want to recoup some of the money that have invested, so assets have been frozen, allowing AltEn to only pay for clean up and monitoring of the facility in Mead as well as taxes and attorneys fees.
