Polls shows 78% of Iowans against eminent domain for carbon pipeline surveying

In Iowa, the Des Moines Register newspaper reports that a poll it ran together with Mediacom Iowa shows that 78% of adults in the state oppose using eminent domain for to force landowners to allow carbon pipeline surveyors onto their property, with just 15% in favor. Opposition to the use of eminent domain is strong against all demographics despite political party, age, gender or rural vs. urban. A report from the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association says that ¾ of the state’s ethanol industry would shut down in the next 5-10 years without the pipelines to reduce the carbon intensity of the fuels produced.
