Maersk unveils designs for 000 TEU methanol-fueled vessel

March 21, 2023 |

In Denmark, Offshore Energy Biz reports that Maersk has unveiled the designs for its new 2,000 TEU methanol-fueled vessel that should be delivered this summer by Hyundai Mipo Dockyard. The vessel can run on standard VLSFO, but the idea is that green methanol, either e- or bio-, fuels one of the engines from the get go. Maersk ordered the vessel in 2021 as part of its decarbonization strategy and is destined for the Baltic shipping route between Northern Europe and the Bay of Bothnia.
