Akasa Air Co-Founder says India can play a key role in SAF market

In India, The Economic Times reported that Akasa Air Co-Founder Aditya Ghosh said India can play a leading role with respect to sustainable aviation fuel by plugging into the global supply chain opportunities. Ghosh said that airlines and airports will be pushed to take sustainable measures, but added that currently, SAF is much more expensive compared to the traditional fuel. There is a gap of around $350 million in terms of funding between traditional aviation fuel and 10% blended fuel, he added. The government of India is working on mandating blending of jet fuel with SAF as the country works on ways to reduce emissions, according to the report.
