UK government to publish report recommending subsidies for SAF production

March 29, 2023 |

In the UK, Financial Times reported that the UK government will publish on March 30 a report recommending the implementation of state subsidies for the production of sustainable aviation fuel. According to the report, the Department for Transport expects to release the report as part of wider package of proposed policies. The UK government had previously announced $203 million in grants and a mandate that would require at least 10% of jet fuel in the country be made from sustainable sources by 2030, according to the report. Heathrow Airport has recently called for the UK government to help make sustainable aviation fuel more commercially viable in the country. “If Britain really wants to compete with the scale of ambition and the credible action seen from the US and Europe, supportive government policy is needed and it is needed now,” said Heathrow CEO John Holland-Kaye.
