In India, Reuters reported that India plans to mandate the use of 1% of SAF for domestic airlines by 2025, with the main aim of reducing emissions from the sector.

India’s Oil Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that about 140 million liters of biofuels are needed in order to meet this mandate. The mandate for SAF could rise to 4-5% if more volumes of biofuels are available, he added.

According to the report, an Indian panel had suggested for the rollout of 1% SAF in the country by 2025. The final mandate would require approval by the cabinet, Puri added.
