In Brazil, ICIS reports Braskem sold a record 17,000 metric tons of its Green PE, polyethylene produced from ethylene derived from sugarcane ethanol, in September. That figure is compared to 188,000 tons of fossil-based PE sold. Both figures refer to sales in the domestic market. The company says it is back up at full production capacity after falling to 65% capacity at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Braskem is the largest green PE producer globally with production capacity of 200,000 tons annually.
